Statement of Faith
We the members of the Temple of Prayer Family Worship Cathedral, United Church of God in Christ, hold the Holy Scriptures as contained in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible to be our rule of Faith and Practice. We believe that Governments are God-given institutions for the benefit of mankind. We admonish and exhort our members to honor magistrates and civil authorities, and to obey civil laws. The following Statement of Faith is the encapsulation our Biblical position.
I. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God. (2 Peter 1:19-21)
II. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent and manifested in three persons: (1) God, The Father, (2) God, The Son, and (3) God, The Holy Ghost. (1 John 5:7)
III. We believe in the blessed hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ Jesus, at His return. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
IV. We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. (St. John 3:16)
V. We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation. (Acts 19:2)
VI. We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides for the propitiation for our transgressions and iniquities. It also provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer. (Isaiah 53:5)
VII. We believe that the Baptism with the Holy Ghost is given to believers who ask for it. (St. Luke 11:13)
VIII. We believe in the supernatural ministry of the Holy Ghost, who bestows spiritual gifts to born-again believers. (1 Corinthians 12:4)
IX. We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost, by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in this present world.
